Jordan was raised in a Christian home and does not remember a time when he did not give mental assent to the facts of the gospel. Through high school, Jordan lived a morally upright life, yet his faith was based more on what his parents had taught him, not on a true relationship with Christ and a genuine trust that He had died on the cross for his personal sins.
After high school Jordan strayed from what he knew to be true and began a selfish pursuit of sin. Though he frequently felt guilt over the sins he was committing, this guilt did not lead him to true repentance. During this time, Jordan undoubtedly would have professed faith in Christ, yet his lifestyle of habitual sin proved that he was in desperate need of true salvation.
Early in his marriage, Jordan was failing miserably as the spiritual leader of his home. With the knowledge that he was responsible to lead his family in a God-honoring way, the Holy Spirit enabled Jordan to repent of his sins, to trust in Christ for salvation, and to begin living obediently to God’s Word.
